The number of foreclosures that took place in November fell 3 percent across the nation as auctions rose by 8 percent from October. Lender repossessions fell 17 percent in November.
In Cook County, foreclosure filings rose 20 percent and auctions spiked 57 percent. DuPage and Will counties saw auctions rise by 41 percent and 6 percent, respectively. Kane County saw foreclosure filings go up by 13 percent, while they fell in DuPage, Lake and Kendall counties by 43 percent, 20 percent and 10 percent, respectively. In McHenry County foreclosure filings fell by 10 percent in November and by 8 percent in Will County.
Illinois had the fourth-highest number of foreclosures in the nation with 12,398 filings in November.

As oil prices continue to climb (they won't be going down as we have now reached peak oil) air and passenger car travel will become more expensive, and High Speed Rail will attract more riders. I find it interesting that while no one who criticizes passenger rail service for not producing enough profit to run without government assistance ignores the fact that our highway system is completely dependent on tax revenue to support it - it makes no profit whatsoever.
