One day after the General Assembly passed a massive corporate tax break package, Illinois House Republicans proposed a bill that would rollback the corporate income tax hike that was agreed upon at the beginning of the year. The hike increased the corporate income tax to 7 percent from 4.8 percent.
House Republican Leader Tom Cross proposed that the figure be rolled back to 6 percent for income earned in 2013 and 4 percent for income garnered in 2014. The proposal also calls for a quarter percent drop in the corporate income tax any time the state's unemployment rate increases by .03 percent over fourth month's time.
