The effort to recall Wisconsin governor Scott Walker will officially begin tomorrow with a petition drive, say union leaders. The drive will need to produce more than 540,000 signuatures by January 17 in order to successfully incite a recall election.
According to the Associated Press, Walker is already collecting campign funds for the fight after someone filed paperwork for a bogus recall effort on November 4, which gave the Republican governor the opportunity to start receiving unlimited monetary donations.
Name of possible Democratic candidates being kicked around as potential Walker opponents include U.S. Rep. Dave Obey, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, former Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk, and State Sen. Jon Erpenbach, who fled to Illinois earlier this year in an effort to stop a vote on the governor's anti-union law.
