The Chicago Tribune is reporting that Cook County employees could see more layoffs as outlined by projections from a budget deal reached in March.
"Layoffs are still happening, and other cost-cutting measures are still happening," Cook County President Toni Preckwinkle's spokeswoman Jessey Neves told the newspaper. "This number is the amount that has happened to date, but layoffs are still ongoing."
According to Preckwinkle's office, 357 layoffs have taken place thus far, which is less than the 500 layoffs projected by the administration.
