About 1,000 Chicago Public School teachers and staff are set to receive layoff notices in coming days as part of budget cuts and school closings. The layoffs are also part of an annual reduction in teaching staff due to enrollment declines. About 150 supplemental staff will be permanently laid off as well. Majority of the laid of teachers, however, will be rehired.
