CTU: Board Vote Shortchanges Students, Educators
The Chicago Teachers Union is lashing out the Chicago Board of Education, who voted unanimously to rescind a 4 percent salary increase earmarked for educators in the CTU contract. Although the budget deficit for public schools is well acknowledged, CTU President Karen Lewis said the vote "shortchanges" students and educators alike. "The city did not get into this financial mess by overpaying teachers," Lewis said in a release.
