Gov. Pat Quinn is set to announce former Chicago mayoral candidate Gery Chico as the new Illinois State Board of Education Chairman. Under his tenure as board president of Chicago Public Schools, Chico built new and renovated schools, closed a budget deficit and increased test scores. Chico replaces Jesse Ruiz, who stepped down late last month.
