A Chicago casino is closer to becoming a reality with the passage of a gambling expansion bill in the Illinois House by a 65-50 vote. Mayor Rahm Emanuel is in favor of a Chicago casino, urging the state Senate to pass the bill, saying in a statement to the press "I am pleased that the Illinois House has approved legislation that allows for a casino in Chicago and I urge the Illinois Senate to act swiftly to pass this bill. A Chicago casino will spur local economic growth and provide jobs to Chicagoans, both needed to get our city moving again."
The bill is expected to pass the state Senate later today, according to the bill's Senate sponsor State Sen. Terry Link (D-Lake Bluff).
