At a meeting last night Chicago Ald. Tom Tunney (44th Ward) told constituents that he and Mid-America Real Estate Group met separately with Wal-Mart representatives to discuss the retail giant's prospects of moving into a East Lakeview location. This news comes after Wal-Mart dismissed rumors months ago that it was looking to move into the posh North Side community. Tunney told citizens at the meeting last night, "I think that if there is a motivation for them to come into our community, they will be, like any other retailer, welcomed under the zoning requirements that are there."
