House Speaker Michael Madigan (D-Chicago) says the growing dispute over pension reform will likely be settled by the state Supreme Court. Madigan said the cutting of existing pensions is a constitutional matter that would have to be decided by the high court. Senate President John Cullerton (D-Chicago) and Gov. Pat Quinn have said that altering pensions for current state workers is against the state constitution.
