The Illinois Supreme Court ruled that Chicago mayoral candidate Rahm Emanuel does meet the state's residency requirement and is allowed on the ballot.

The decision overturns a ruling by an appellate court, which said Emanuel had not resided in the city one year prior to the February 22, 2011 election and was, therefore, ineligible to be on the ballot.
