The Illinois House passed a bill along party lines yesterday to tweak the redistricting process in the state. The bill (SB 3976), which was approved by a 67-46 vote, would require four public hearings around the state and install provisions to keep ethnic and cultural communities in cohesive blocs. The Senate has already passed the legislation, which now moves to Gov. Pat Quinn's desk.
