Chicago Inspector General Joseph Ferguson is recommending Mayor Richard Daley prohibit city employees from accepting meals, sports tickets, and other gifts from companies that work for the city. Ferguson estimated, for example, that over a recent two-year period 40 Chicago Transportation Department staffers accepted some $10,000 in gifts. Other city departments already have a ban on gifts in place.
