Cook County Board President Todd Stroger provided families whose homes were damaged by floods with a trip to the Brookfield Zoo in September with nearly $79,000 in federal grant money that was allocated to restore those residences. Instead, the funds were used to cover entertainment, food, and information on how to remove mold, receive job training and health screenings. Some 2,250 people were in attendance.
