Pat Quinn distanced himself yesterday from a recent comment by his budget director David Vaught, telling reporters that he would likely veto any income tax increase greater than the 1 percent hike he supports. Quinn also said his opponent Bill Brady was spreading “fairy tales” by claiming he could balance the state's budget without new revenue.
