The Chicagoland area will soon face harsher air pollution regulations thanks to a new proposal by the U.S. Environment Protection Agency. Under the new regulations, downwind states like Illinois will have to switch to cleaner-burning coal or install pollution control equipment, which is estimated to cost $2.8 billion nationwide.
