A filing disclosed this afternoon by federal prosecutors shows that former Gov. Rod Blagojevich thought about naming himself to President Barack Obama's U.S. Senate seat in 2008. Fearing an indictment once he learned that Tony Rezko was feeding information to investigators, Blagojevich allegedly believed that serving in Washington would put himself in a better position to mount a legal defense.
