Only one week remains for Illinois lawmakers to pass their proposed constitutional amendments (which would subsequently appear on November's ballot).  Yet members of both parties seem unwilling to compromise on a bill to reform how the state redraws its legislative maps. The amendment, authored by Senate Democrats, is scheduled to come up at a committee hearing in the House tomorrow, where it needs at least one Republican vote to pass.
