In an e-mail sent out by his campaign, Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Alexi Giannoulias announced today that his campaign had raised $1.2 million in the first quarter of 2010 "without corporate special interest and federal lobbyist money." The AP had previously run a story about his improved fundraising totals (he raised $1.1 million in the previous quarter), but noted that he did not keep pace with GOP candidate Mark Kirk's $2.2 million first quarter mark.
