After overcoming a procedural hurdle yesterday afternoon, the U.S. Senate is expected to take up and pass a $138
billion proposal today that would extend the filing deadline for unemployment
benefits through the end of 2010. Unemployed beneficiaries of the COBRA
program would continue to receive a 65 percent subsidy on their premiums, as well.
