In an effort to root out nursing home violence, Chicago Democratic State Sens. Heather Steans and Jacqueline Collins unveiled legislation today that would raise staffing requirements and increase fines for problem facilities. Leading senior citizens' advocates -- including the AARP, the Supportive Housing Providers Association, and Illinois Citizens for Better Care -- are backing the measures.
