Rasmussen Poll: Kirk 46%, Giannoulias 40% (UPDATED)

Yesterday, Republican U.S. Senate candidate Mark Kirk released an internal poll suggesting he held a 12-point lead over Democrat Alexi Giannoulias.  But a survey published by Rasmussen this morning shows a much closer, six-point spread -- with a margin of error of +/- 4.5%:

Kirk: 46%
Giannoulias: 40%
Undecided: 10%

Several days before the primary, Public Policy Polling put out a survey showing Giannoulias with an eight-point lead over Kirk.  That poll found about twice as many undecideds as Rasmussen.  Hopefully, PPP publishes again in the near future as that will give us a better sense of what has happened over the past week.

UPDATE (10:00 a.m.): Tom Jensen of PPP takes an axe to Kirk's internal poll.
