Preckwinkle Up By 12 Points In Trib Poll

Last night, the Tribune released the results of their latest poll in the Democratic primary for Cook County board president.  The Preckwinkle campaign has to be pretty pleased.  Not only are they leading in fundraising, they're also ahead by a dozen points.

The toplines are below (with the results of the Trib's December survey of the race):

Toni Preckwinkle: 36% (20%)
Dorothy Brown: 24% (29%)
Terrence O'Brien: 16% (11%)
Todd Stroger: 11% (14%)

As the Tribune notes, Preckwinkle's two ads (which have been running frequently over the past week) seem to be doing the trick:

Democratic voters with a favorable impression of Preckwinkle have doubled from 23 percent last month to 45 percent now. Her favorable impression among white voters also doubled to 54 percent. Those factors help explain why she has the support of 46 percent of white voters in the contest.

In other news, Brown is scheduled to hold a press conference this morning responding to the "jeans day" controversy.
