Gov. Pat Quinn and Mayor Rahm Emanuel agreed Monday that the
Illinois Gaming Board should have regulatory authority over a proposed gambling expansion package.
A new Tribune/WGN-TV poll shows that 49 percent of the Chicago voters surveyed are in favor of a city casino. About 43 percent of the 800 registered voters polled said they opposed it.
Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn said "progress has been made" on a gambling expansion bill that passed the Senate Wednesday, but pointed out that more changes are needed.
Yesterday at a Senate Executive Committee hearing, state gaming
officials said they would need to hire 300 additional people to
successfully implement a massive gaming expansion bill pending in the
Illinois Senate.
On the same day Gov. Pat Quinn announced in his budget address that a
gaming expansion in Illinois must have “tough ethical standards,” the
Illinois Senate Executive Committee approved legislation that would
bring five new casinos to Illinois.
