In our brief introduction last week to GOP gubernatorial frontrunner Bill Brady, we emphasized the state senator's intense social conservatism. A 2009 poll from the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute, reposted
by Capitol Fax this morning, proves just how far out of the mainstream
the Bloomington Republican really is.
Brady supports banning abortion in all cases
except where the mother's life is at stake. But only 17.8 percent of
respondents shared that view. And just over 30 percent supported bans
on both gay marriage and civil unions, which Brady will push for this
session.
