House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) tells Politico today that the White House is reconsidering its Guantanamo transfer plan, even though the president's 2011 budget sets aside $270 million to purchase and upgrade Illinois' Thomson Correctional Center for that purpose.

Later today, Ald. Ike Carothers (29th Ward) is scheduled to enter a guilty plea on federal bribery and tax charges.  He is expected to go to prison under a plea agreement that let him avoid more serious charges. 

Essentially dormant under the Blagojevich administration, Gov. Pat Quinn is reinvigorating Illinois' Juvenile Justice Commission. Over the weekend, Quinn appointed 19 people to serve on the panel, which advises the governor and legislators on ways to improve the juvenile justice system.
