Poll: Most Americans Support Obama’s Increased Fuel Efficiency Standard (VIDEO)

Environmental advocates and car drivers everywhere recently won a victory. On Friday, President Obama officially announced an agreement with 13 automakers that will raise fuel-efficiency standards.

This comes on the heels of a national poll released in July that showed overwhelming support for such an initiative.

Skepticism Surrounds Chicago's New Recycling Plan

Recycling advocates in the city of Chicago have been dismayed for years, but skepticism is now widespread when it comes to Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s trial plan that involves partly privatizing the service.

This week, Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced a plan to divvy up the city’s six areas. The city’s own Streets and Sanitation department will pick up curb-side recycling bins on the North and Southwest sides of the city, while Metal Management Midwest takes on the South Side. Waste Management will service the remaining areas and will also tackle an additional 22,000 homes in the Wicker Park, Bucktown, and Logan Square neighborhoods.

Illinois Politician Listed As 'Sell Out' To Coal Industry

U.S. Rep. Jerry Costello (D-12) has a couple things in common with U.S. Reps. Eric Cantor (R-VA) and Michele Bachmann (R-MN), according to a recent report by Greenpeace. They have all worked to prevent the Environmental Protection Agency from imposing "modernizing standards for pollutants that come predominantly from coal-fired power plants, including mercury, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, greenhouse gases, and coal ash."
