State Rep. Michael Madigan (D-Chicago) swept the primary election tonight in the 22nd Illinois House District, but not without a fight from opponent Michele Piszczor and a polling snafu earlier in the day.
Madigan,
who's served as state representative on Chicago's Southwest side since
1970, won more than 75 percent of the vote and will run against
Republican candidate Robert Handzik in November's general election.
Piszczor,
who brought in a little more than 17 percent of the vote, met with her
supporters at the Marriott Hotel located at 6520 S. Cicero Ave., next to
Midway Airport tonight. She said she wasn’t going to give a concession
speech.
“I know he cheated,” Piszczor said to Progress Illinois in the Marriott lobby.
“If I lost fair and square, OK. The fact that you cheated to get to where you’re at, no, you didn’t win.”
