Lots more action at the Hart Schaffner Marx factory in Des Plaines tomorrow morning. As they wait to hear which bidder will be chosen to take over the bankrupt company, the workers will hold a vote at 10 a.m. to decide whether to occupy the factory if the new owner opts to liquidate. As we've noted, previous reports have indicated that Wells Fargo, the suitmaker's main creditor, favors liquidation, which would result in the loss of over 3,000 jobs nationwide, including 600 in Des Plaines.
The New York Times covered the Hartmarx situation yesterday and State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias -- who appeared at the factory on Friday -- talked about the issue on CNN:
A Workers United press release announced that SEIU President Andy Stern, Rep. Phil Hare, and Giannoulias will all be on hand tomorrow. Well have full reports in the late morning and live updates on our Twitter feed.
