Durbin On The Ed Show (UPDATED)

Last night on MSNBC's The Ed Show, Sen. Dick Durbin appeared to discuss his comments from earlier in the week -- which we documented -- that the banks "own" Capitol Hill.  Watch it:

We hear that Durbin gave a blockbuster speech on the Senate floor this afternoon.  We're trying to get ahold of it.

UPDATE: Think Progress reports that Durbin's mortgage modification proposal failed by a vote of 45-51 in the Senate.  They also posted the conclusion to his remarks on the floor today, in which he says, "I'll be back.  I'm not going to quit on this," adding: "At some point, the Senators in this chamber will decide, the bankers shouldn't write the agenda in the United States Senate." I love Senator Durbin. He was my Senator when I lived in Chicago. ( I have since moved out of the country. ) He is one of the few real Statesman and true representative of the people.

Hank Paulson, Ben Bernake and Tim Geithner should be clapped in irons, along with the rest of the crooks and scumbags at Goldman, who are presently manipulating the market, stealing every last dime of our retirement plans. Free market, my ass. This entire financial crisis was planned and is highway robbery in broad daylight brought to you by the likes of these heartless, greedy, evil bastards.

Senator Durbin is right and had the guts to say it. The US is a banking oligarchy.

Americans sit on their hands, while all of this is going on, at their own peril.

If we just had a few more Dick Durbins, and the other 45 real Democrats who voted with him, (instead of with the Bankers)...lets fire those twelve blue-dog Democrats along with the rest of the crazy, old, white, neo-confederate men in the GOP..(in the old days when you were "fired" your house was burned down...so you would have to leave the Village (Senate)...think these Senators might remember who they are supposed to be working for ...if they were "fired"?
