The Tribune adds that the 0.8 percent jump between January and February "represents the largest one-month increase since IDES began keeping records in 1976." Brutal.

With this wondeful news, our new Governor and our legislature are going to give themselves raises. How low do our representative have to go? How about you take care of our budget problems and if everything works out, in 2 years you can give yourself a raise. I was raised in Illinois, staying here until age 24 and then moved to Texas for 9 years. They had no state tax, charged no tax on food items, and only had mandatory vehicle inspection that cost $20 at the time and now costs $35.
Where the hell does the money go in this state? We are close to Texas on the population numbers and we pay a state tax. I think we ought to all call for an indepent audit and find out. Giving themselves a raise is ridiculous, and I will make sure my representatives hear about it.
