Kirk's Warped Perspective On The Stimulus

Yesterday, we debunked GOP Rep. Mark Kirk's claim to Politico that most Americans are "pro-Obama, anti-stimulus."  Today, he comes back with more of the same in a Daily Herald article:

Republicans in the suburbs, all of whom opposed the measure, tell residents they will not see a benefit worth the price tag.

"If you ask a majority of people, 'Do you expect in any way to benefit from this legislation?' the answer will be 'No,'" said U.S. Rep. Mark Kirk of Highland Park.

It's true that the latest polls found somewhere between a half to two-thirds of respondents don't believe the stimulus package will help their personal financial situation. But the remarkable thing is this: over 60 percent still support the plan.  That means a sizeable portion of Americans are putting the collective need ahead of their own self-interest.

Apparently, Kirk isn't one of them.
