Would Recognize That Mustache Anywhere

Watching some archival footage from the night of Jane Byrne's 1979 election as Chicago mayor, I couldn't help but be distracted by the sight of a certain young, mustachioed Tribune reporter in the background:

This glimpse of "Axelrod the Reporter" comes during from John Callaway's mini-documentary on Byrne's victory, which aired yesterday on WTTW's Chicago Tonight.  If you're a fan of Chicago politics, watch the whole thing below:

I did watch that last night. A nice little trip down memory lane. The whole truck dealership I was working at on Mannheim got snowed in one night that January. Must have been that 1/12 storm. We all trudged across the street and booked the Holiday Inn solid. We cleaned the bar out of booze and then I went upstairs and played cards with the parts managers until they cleaned me out.

Anyway Byrne's story sort of put the Human Events rant in my inbox titled "Obama's 3 Big Lies His Plan to Destroy the GOP" in good perspective. I thought it was so funny I went to HE's site and left a note: "That's some crazy stuff, keep it coming." Maybe I ought to send them a copy of CHi Tonight's segment.
