The fun never ends with Roland Burris.  In his latest affidavit, he detailed one phone conversation with former Blagojevich chief of staff John Harris prior to the governor's arrest.  But today the Sun-Times reports:

All told, Burris called Harris, who resigned after he was criminally charged Dec. 9, four times in the weeks following the Nov. 4 election and appears to have spoken to Harris on Nov. 26, phone records show. [...]

Burris depicted his discussion with Harris as having included a passing reference to the Senate seat. But sources say Burris made a hard pitch to Harris — as well as other Blagojevich aides — about being named to Barack Obama’s seat.

Here is what Burris wrote about Harris in the February 4 affidavit:

In October, 2008, I attempted to contact John Harris via telephone to give a recommendation for my nephew who had applied for a job with the State of Illinois. Mr. Harris was unavailable and I left a voicemail message for him. Approximately three weeks later, Mr. Harris called and I discussed with him my nephew's qualifications for the job with the State of Illinois. At the conclusion of the conversation, I inquired as to the whether there was any news regarding then-Governor Blagojevich's possible picks to fill President Obama's Senate seat. Mr. Harris indicated that there was no news as to President Obama's replacement.

What a disaster.
