Here's the latest from the race to replace Rahm Emanuel in the 5th Congressional District.  Only eighteen days left until the March 3 primary ...

Sara Feigenholtz will be going up on air tomorrow with her first campaign ad.  CBS 2 confimed that her ad-buy will cover 23 ads (30 seconds in length) between tomorrow and next Thursday.  WGN confirmed that she has purchased enough airtime for 14 ads during the same timeframe.  And Fox Chicago is scheduled to air five of her ads during weekend news programming.  We were unable to reach NBC 5 and ABC 7.

Yesterday, Teamsters Local 743 -- which represents Chicago-area "health care, technical, office and warehouse workers" -- endorsed Tom Geogheghan in the race.  From the campaign press release.

“For a lifetime, Tom has stood up for working people and gotten results. Many times, he's been there and no one else was,” said Richard Berg, President, Teamsters Local 743. [...]

“I'm proud to have the support of Local 743. They represent many hard working people in the district and Chicago," said Geoghegan. "Currently they are fighting to save jobs at the University of Chicago and I support this effort. Now is not the time to be laying off more people."

To read more about Local 743's dispute with the University of Chicago Hospitals, check out ABC 7's recent report.

Meanwhile, eight of the IL-5 campaigns appear in a "meet-the-candidates" feature in the latest issue of TimeOut Chicago.  Judge for yourself, but we think Mike Quigley's answers take the cake.

Speaking of Quigley, Prairie State Blue just posted this interview with him (the first in a series than includes other 5th District candidates).

That's not the only interview that's shown up online.  Here's John Fritchey on Jeff Berkowitz's show (as you'll see, Berkowitz is none too happy that Feigenholtz hasn't agreed to appear on the show):

And here's part one and two of Geoghegan's appearance on Air America's Ring of Fire, much of which is devoted to the importance of the labor movement:

In other news, Jesse Greenberg has an interesting blog post on the various candidates' use of Twitter.

Finally, the Tribune editorial board has been sitting down with individual candidates.  Today, they published an article on their meetings with Jan Donatelli, Paul Bryar, Victory Forys, Carlos Monteagudo, and Charlie Wheelan.

Full disclosure: The SEIU Illinois Council -- which is the sole sponsor of Progress Illinois -- has endorsed Sara Feigenholtz in the 5th Congressional District race.  Progress Illinois itself will not be endorsing any candidate in this contest.
