Things went as expected in Washington, D.C. this morning.  Roland Burris showed up on Capitol Hill -- a swarm of paparazzi in tow -- where he was informed by the Secretary of Senate that his certificate of appointment was incomplete because it lacked Illinois Secretary of State's Jesse White's signature.  Burris left the building at that point, holding a brief press conference with his attorneys.

The Burris camp really needs to hear back from the Illinois Supreme Court before any further action can be taken.  And there's no indication when the high court is going to respond to their motion for a writ of mandumus forcing White to sign the document.  On the other hand, Burris and Sens. Harry Reid and Dick Durbin might emerge from their meeting tomorrow having reached some sort of agreement.

The Obama camp must be loving this ...

Finally, there is a lot of editorial comment on the Burris circus in the print outlets today: the Sun-Times, Daily Herald, Peoria Journal-Star, Eric Zorn, Mary Mitchell, Mark Brown, and Phil Kadner all chime in.
