Firedoglake's Marcy Wheeler has a great post up today pointing out that the personnel involved in pulling those 155 US Airways passengers out of the Hudson River alive yesterday were union members.  The pilots, the flight attendants, the air traffic controllers, the ferry drivers, the firefighters, and police officers -- all of them belong to a union.  

It's an important reminder that unions don't just ensure that their members are paid a decent wage, they also push for the best possible safety training.  Yesterday it showed.
