Andy Shaw Asks Obama About Aid For States And Local Governments

During the question-and-answer portion of his press conference in Chicago today, Barack Obama asked, "Where's Andy Shaw?  We're going local here."  ABC 7's Shaw quickly popped up and inquired about how the president-elect's stimulus plan would address struggling states and municipalities. Referring to "Randolph & Lasalle" (Chicago's City Hall) and "2nd & Capitol" (the statehouse in Springfield), Shaw said, "Hundreds of your friends are wondering what you're going to do because they're in desperate straights from the standpoints of their budgets."  Obama pointed out that aid to states has all along been part of his economic recovery plan and that a lot of his proposed infrastructure investments will go "through our states and our local governments."

Obama then apologized to the AP's Steve Thomma -- a White Sox fan -- for seating him in the "Cubs" section (the northern end) of a recent press conference. "This is also part of the new way of doing business," Obama said. "When we make mistakes, we admit them."  Watch it:
