A few updates to our General Assembly wrap-up from yesterday. In the 43rd, Republican Ruth Munson conceded to Democratic challenger Keith Farnham, giving the Democrats another pick-up in the Western suburbs. Munson had been waiting for two Cook County precincts to report, but Farnham's 322 vote lead stood. In the Northwest Suburban 66th, Democrat Mark Walker has also been declared the victor, defeating Republican Christine Proncho 52-48 percent for the GOP-held open seat.

While the AP hasn't officially called the races yet, two more tight battles are all but over. With 100 percent of precincts reporting, Democrat Gary Nowak came up just short in his bid to unseat 46th district incumbent Dennis Reboletti. Same for Diane McGuire, who lost by about 600 votes to Republican Darlene Senger in the expensive race for the GOP-held open seat in the 96th.

So, here's how it all shakes out. The Democrats took out two Republican incumbents (43rd, 85th) and won two open seats previously held by the GOP (66th, 92nd). The Republicans won one open seat previously held by the Democrats (107th). That puts the Democratic majority at 70 seats, one short of the number needed to approve major legislation without any Republican support.
