Clinton Advisers Say She Needs PA And IN

While Hillary Clinton told Larry King yesterday that she will stay in the primary race until voters in Florida and Michigan are seated at the Democratic convention -- regardless of the outcomes in both Pennsylvania and Indiana -- her own advisers may not be of the same mind:

Trailing Mr. Obama overall in both the popular vote and in the competition for delegates, Mrs. Clinton’s advisers said they were girding for a tough spring. The Indiana and North Carolina primaries are next up, two weeks from today, and Clinton advisers said that if Mrs. Clinton were to lose Indiana — a state where she has campaigned steadily and has some endorsement advantages — several advisers would urge her to quit the race.

“She has to win Pennsylvania and Indiana — pretty much everyone in the campaign agrees on that,” said one senior Clinton adviser, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the campaign’s electoral expectations.

Recent Indiana polling gives Obama a slight edge, but the results of today's primary will surely influence undecided Hoosier voters. For more info on the race in Indiana, read our primary primer here.
