For Illinois GOP, Another Failing GPA

Every year the Drum Major Institute for Public Policy grades lawmakers on how well they serve the American middle class. The grades are reached by looking at how each member of Congress voted on key pieces of legislation. While the Institute reports that this year's grades are slightly better than last year's, it singles out the areas of trade, health care and labor where it would like to see major improvement. Perhaps most striking is difference in scores received by Republicans and Democrats.

Here's a breakdown of the Illinois Congressional Delegation:

Dem. Representatves:

Bobby Rush (D 1st) 100% A+

Jesse Jackson Jr (D 2nd) 100% A+

Dan Lipinski (D 3rd) 100% A+

Luis Gutierrez (D 4th) 100% A+

Rahm Emmanuel (D 5th) 90% A

Danny Davis (D 7th) 100% A+

Melissa Bean (D 8th) 78% C

Jan Schakowsky (D 9th) 100% A+

Jerry Costello (D 12th) 100% A+

Phil Hare (D 17th) 100% A+

GOP Representatives

Peter Roskam (R 6th) 10% F

Mark Kirk (R 10th) 56% C

Jerry Weller (R 11th) 33% F

Judy Biggert (R 13th) 30% F

Tim Johnson (R 15th) 56% C

Donald Manzullo (R 16th) 0% F

Ray LaHood (R 18th) 75% C

John Shimkus (R 19th) 33% F

If you take the numbers by party and put them into a handy dandy GPA Calculator the results don't reflect very well on the Illinois GOP. Democrats come out with an A+ average but the Republicans bring home a .75 GPA -- or in other words, another F.
